This training transports you underground to assess safety conditions around a tunnel face. You will explore the area to evaluate the need for additional ground support and use tools to mitigate any identified hazards. The program emphasizes effective communication with co-workers, enabling you to call for assistance when necessary, ensuring a comprehensive approach to maintaining safety in a challenging environment.
In this VR simulator, you will learn to identify hazards around a tunnel face following blasting activities in mining or tunneling operations. The training takes you underground to thoroughly investigate the area and assess whether additional ground support measures are needed beyond the initial design application. Equipped with the appropriate tools, you'll receive realistic feedback through sounds and tool actions, enhancing the learning experience through cooperation with virtual co-workers. This training adheres to NEBOSH, ISO 45001, and IOGP's Operating Management System standards for the oil and gas industry.
The VR Experience
The assessment begins underground, where you meet with the foreman to receive your work permit and collect a rock scaling tool. As you make your way to your designated work area, your task is to identify any loose rocks or fall hazards. Upon detecting a hazard, you'll either use your tool to remove it or call for assistance from a co-worker if it's beyond your capability. For hazards that cannot be removed independently, you will barricade the area and report the issue to the foreman.
Upon reaching the rock face of the tunnel, you will search for additional hazards using your headlamp, as the blasting site lacks lighting. Both training and exam modes feature randomized hazards to ensure each session provides a unique and challenging learning experience.
