Learn how to recognise and challenge microaggressions in a safe and effective way. While overt racism is often easy to identify, microaggressions—subtle, everyday slights, snubs, and insults—can be difficult to notice unless they are personally experienced.
Navigating Microaggressions consists of five interactive topics, supported by additional activities including onboarding, self-reflection, and a final survey. The experience follows a linear structure, with learners guided step by step through each activity by the coaches. Full engagement with all activities is recommended to achieve the maximum learning benefit.
The complete module is designed to take approximately 25 minutes to complete. Actual completion time may vary if learners choose to revisit topics to explore alternative options, which is encouraged, or to refine their open-ended responses.
Learning objectives:
- Reflect on personal reactions to microaggressions and their underlying causes.
- Recognise common microinsults and microinvalidations, and understand their impact on marginalised individuals and communities.
- Learn practical approaches for engaging in constructive conversations about racism.
- Practise addressing microaggressions in ways that are safe, respectful, and effective.
